Congratulations to Olympian Sandeep Kumar on Promotion to DSP in Punjab Police!
Barapind.com proudly congratulates Sandeep Kumar, celebrated Indian weightlifter and Olympian, on his well-deserved promotion as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Punjab Police. His promotion is not only a personal achievement but also a moment of pride for the entire state of Punjab.
Born on 27 February 1975, Sandeep Kumar represented India at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the men’s featherweight category. He went on to win a bronze medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bringing honour to the nation.
After his successful career as an athlete, Sandeep Kumar has continued to serve Indian sports as a coach, helping shape the future of young Indian weightlifters. Under his mentorship and guidance, several Indian lifters have gone on to win medals at national and international levels.
One of the proudest moments for Indian weightlifting came when Mirabai Chanu of Manipur made history by becoming the first Indian weightlifter to win a silver medal at the Olympics. Contributions from experienced coaches like Sandeep Kumar have played a vital role in building a strong weightlifting ecosystem in the country.
Sandeep Kumar’s journey—from representing India at the Olympics, to coaching medal-winning athletes, and now serving in a top role in the Punjab Police—stands as an inspiration to the youth of India.
👏 Salute to a true champion – on the sports field, in the police service, and in life!
